What the heck are the Russell Library games?
In celebration of Russell Library’s 150th year serving Middletown, we decided to spread joy in 2026 by running the Russell Library Games. Between the anniversaries of our doors opening to the public (April 5) and our incorporation (November 17) players may join the Games and find opportunities around town to accumulate points in order to earn prizes. Each month a top scorer will win a Downtown Business District gift card. Ultimately one winner will receive a Russell Library Games trophy and a $150 DBD gift card.
Registration opens April 5. Game play starts April 11. The closing ceremony will be November 17.
How does business participation work?
All business participants have to do is display a 4″x6″ sign at your counter (pictured at right). Players scan the QR code to earn points.
If you opt to offer a 15% off discount, ask your staff to apply it as you see fit. That’s all!
This opportunity is only available to businesses located in Middletown, CT.
What’s in it for me?
Players will be directed to participating businesses in order to earn points. “Support Local Business” points refresh daily, so the more players frequent participating businesses, the more points they will earn.
We expect your participation will drive repeat traffic to your business, including new customers.
What’s the deal with the 15% discount?
The first 14 businesses to opt in to the 15% discount will be featured in Russell Library’s email newsletter, which reaches over 7000 locals each week. All participating businesses – discount or no discount – will be listed on the Russell Library Games site.
The 15% discount can be offered across the board or on specific products or services. It simply serves as an incentive for players to visit your business. We’re not picky about how you determine if someone is a player or not, but one surefire way is if they scan the QR code on your Russell Library Games sign.
